โฆ The Heartbreak Digital Illustration & Mixed-Media CollageLuna J. Yvelisse, 2025The Heartbreak is a self-portrait about the aftermath of intimate partner abuse, sexual violence, betrayal, and survival. It examines how violence fractures not only the heart, but the body, the spirit, and one's sense of safety. It is both a personal testimony and a reflection on the collective experiences of those whose pain is too often ignored, minimized, or erased. Rather than concealing trauma, the work transforms bringing together symbols that define my visual language: blood, the Sacred Heart, thorned crown, dead roses, love letter shaped as a heart, the lock, flames, paint, water, and references to Afro-Indigenous Caribbean spirituality. These recurring symbols reflect love, grief, faith, transformation, and the ongoing process of healing. The burning heart represents a love consumed by betrayal and violence, while the fractured hearts speak to emotional rupture, the loss of trust, and the lasting wounds abuse leaves behind. Trusting and confiding in someone that knew the violence my body had already endured, yet chose to violate it again. Killing all trust that can never ever be brought back to life. The eye within the stomach symbolizes intuition, violation, and the deep embodied knowing that trauma is carried long after it occurs. Tears become both mourning and release. The bloody handprint across the womb honors Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (usually shown across the face). As an Afro-Indigenous woman, my body becomes the point of connection between personal experience and a broader history of colonial and gendered violence. It acknowledges the reality that Indigenous women continue to face disproportionate rates of sexual violence, disappearance, and murder, reminding us that our bodies have never been equally protected. The Heartbreak is ultimately an act of remembrance and reclamationโa refusal to allow violence to define my story.
โฆ Artist and Muse Digital Illustration & Mixed-Media Collage Luna J. Yvelisse, 2025Artist & Muse is a self-portrait. As the artist, the subject, & the muse, I reject the historical tradition of women existing solely as objects of admiration. We are creators, storytellers, & subjects. Through this work, I invite viewers to examine femininity through the lens of bodily autonomy & the contradictions imposed upon women. Society celebrates women in theoryโas mothers, muses, lovers, goddesses, & caretakers yet often values us according to beauty standards, respectability politics, reproductive capacity, desirability, & the labor our bodies, minds, & spirits can produce. We are praised when we are useful, disciplined when we are autonomous, & condemned when we refuse to be possessed. Rather than separating beauty from intellect or sensuality from spirituality, Artist & Muse rejects those false binaries. It reclaims adornment, desire, softness, rage, & self-representation as expressions of agency rather than vanity. My body becomes an altar not an object of consumption, but a site of creativity, healing, devotion, & power. Built as a devotional collage, what you witness defines my visual language & personal world: paintbrushes, pigments, tropical flora, shells, crystals, sacred objects, celestial imagery, & references to Afro-Indigenous Caribbean spirituality & Espiritismo. These recurring symbols represent the things I love & the worlds that have shaped me, woven together into a personal archive of identity, ancestry, memory, & creation.
Your mind is your reality projector.Your thoughts are your frequency. Your heart is your electromagnetic generator. Your emotions are your magnetic signals. Your voice is your vibrational weapon.Your words are your spells.Your energy is your currency.Your aura is your electromagnetic shield.Your soul is your eternal observer. Your spirit is your cosmic current. With that said, if you just focus on the law of attraction you will not change your behavior. It's about the law of correspondence. It is all about your vibration. You can manipulate the law of attraction all you want but you cannot manipulate the law of vibration. You cannot lie about your vibration. So do you vibrate love?
